The school opened in 1891 and we cherish its history and traditions and mark them with a number of key events throughout the school year. We encourage ex-pupils to keep in touch after leaving school.

Colston’s Girls’ School has a strong academic record and a reputation across the city for academic success. This year it achieved a 100% pass rate for 5 GCSEs A* – C. The school’s high standards of teaching and discipline are supplemented by a vigorous and extensive extra curricular programme.
A strong pastoral system operates throughout the school with clear and open lines of communication between pupils, staff and parents providing a network of support.
Caring Community Ethos
The school has an enviable reputation for its caring community ethos which is evident as you walk around the school. All staff know and care about the girls and encourage their individual development. Strong social and moral codes are part of school life with politeness, tolerance and hard work being the norm. The girls are friendly and considerate and emulate the good example set by staff by showing a genuine concern for positive, responsible relationships. (ISI Inspection Report 2003)
The school is committed to ensuring that everyone within the school community has a better understanding of sustainability and the global environment. We have developed a three-year action plan covering all aspects of school life to achieve this and to raise our awareness of how our actions today will affect the world’s resources of the future.
